Dragging

Yep, that's what I'm doing. Some days are just so hard to get moving. Well, let's just admit it, a lot of days are like that. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that I never go to bed before 11:00. That I would rather stay up and watch a movie or play cards with my addicting husband than sleep. *sigh* But some mornings I have to reconsider my choices the previous night. Wouldn't I be better off getting enough sleep and feeling alive in the morning? Maybe, but I choose to ignore that. Stupid? Maybe...maybe not. Because the time I get so spend with him is priceless. After we get all the kids finally tucked in for the night, and after countless drinks of water, potty breaks, hugs and whatever else they seem to dream up to get out of bed, I want some grown up time. It seems that we go through our days and spend all our time and energy doing everything else in life. Only having 1 hour a day for each other isn't enough.

But I digress...

As I'm dragging myself to get anything done today, I can't help but wonder what it will be like when the kids are all gone. Will I be bored? Will we still stay up too late or will we hit the hay by 10? How much can I accomplish each day when I'm not chasing after kids, cleaning up their messes, and running them around? It seems that day will never come. And come it will. Probably way faster than I really want. But, oh, won't it be nice??

So I sit here with kids running around, still in my pajamas, and wishing I could go back to bed. Can't I just sleep while someone exercises for me, gets Tiara ready for school, works on my scrapbooks and cleans my house? But, sadly, I must do all of that myself. Not so glamorous of a life, but the life I chose. My bright spot? Tiara just told me I'm beautiful!

Some People

Some people just drive me crazy, make me mad, and just generally are stupid. I'll never understand how they can call themselves good parents, friends, whatever and actually believe that it's true. Are they seriously blind to the fact that they do NONE of what the say? Or have they just convinced themselves that the rules only apply to everyone else, not them?

Some people:

  • say one thing and do the opposite. Profess to value something/someone then never act that way.
  • expect that everyone else is placed on Earth to serve them and take care of their responsiblities for them.
  • will say one thing, then turn around and say the opposite behind your back. (Exactly what is the truth? They probably don't even know!)
  • have to control everyone around them...what they do, say, think, or who they can be friends with.
  • have no business being parents. As much as they say their kids come #1, they never show it. Kids are the trophies they show off, not real people with real needs!
  • think it's everyone else's job. Whatever it is, someone else needs to do it.

If you believe that you might be one of these people, you probably aren't, for these people don't think they have any problems. I'm sure they wonder why other people are so irritated with them, because they don't have any problems. Now, heaven knows, I am far from perfect and I have many flaws that I am constantly trying to improve upon. But the fact that I'm trying says a lot. If you can recognize that you have some faults and keep trying to improve, rest assured, you ARE NOT one of these people. To those of you that have to deal with "some people", you are saints and deserve a place in heaven with those "some people" serving you for eternity!!!

Can you say...GIRLY???

Tiara's new room is pretty much done, with the exception of a few things on the walls and, oh my gosh, it's definitely pink!!! I let her choose the bedding and then we went from there. She was very particular about what colors she wanted it painted. I just hope she still likes it as she gets older. I feel like I'm inside a carton of neopolitan ice cream when I go in, but it's exactly what she wanted and who am I to mess with the princess?? It is a very fun and happy room and you can't help but smile...it's pink!! Hopefully now with the girls separated, the rooms can stay a little more organized. We'll see...

This girl is so whooped! She honestly thinks that she is Daddy's only sweetheart and he thinks about nothing but her! Boy, someday reality is going to hit her hard! She goes to sleep every night looking at the picture of her and Daddy that she carefully positioned on her nightstand so that he could watch her sleep. Serious crush!!

Grandma's House

The kids had another opportunity to be on Studio 5 today. They LOVE seeing themselves on TV, even if it's only for a minute. The spot today was about what makes Grandma's house fun. Sorry all you Grandpa's out there, I guess you don't have a place to live anymore:( Anyway, Angie alsked if the kids could help with some little sound bites and they were more than eager to help. OUr cute neighbor, Sherrill Vanderstek, did a wonderful job with great ideas on how to make Grandma's house fun. She is such a doll and we are so lucky to know her! Excuse Me???

I have remained silent this Bachelor season, but I can't keep my mouth shut any longer. Jason is an idiot!!! I just can't believe he sent Jillian home and kept Molly. Molly, the one that looks as if she has a peeloff mask on her face, rod up her back, hair in a ponytail and openly admitted that she's not a touchy feelly girl. How much more do you need, Jason. She is not the one for you!!!!! Jillian would be such a better choice. And she's right. When you're 90, it's your best friend that you want with you, not Miss Stargazing Eyes. Jillian has the maturity to be a Stepmom and take all of the trials that will come with it. Keep in mind, gals, that Ty has a Mom and that she will be in your lives forever. Ty might be a cute little 4 year old now, but he will grow up and present some challenges. This is not about playing house and swooping in to rescue Jason & Ty. This is real life and some days are really hard!! There's no way that Molly is ready for that. Now, it makes it an easy choice...Melissa. But what about DeAnna? I can't wait to see the drama. Why, oh, why are they making me wait 2 weeks to see more?

Valentine's Day

I was informed by my sweet Mother-in-law that I haven't updated my blog since that day and that my life must be pretty bad. Well, she wasn't too far off. It's been a rough couple of weeks for various reasons that I'll choose not to burden everyone with, just that sometimes life throws you a curve and it's next to impossible to deal with. Things have gotten back to normal (mostly) and we all carry on.

Dave and I decided that since we had his kids for the weekend, we would do our Valentine's date on Friday night instead of Saturday. It's always hard to do anything because it seems that Valentine's always falls on his weekend. But he agreed to pick them up on Saturday morning instead of Friday night so we could have a night together. He came home from work, flowers in hand (which always is a good start). We had a yummy dinner at Archibald's and then went to see "He's Just Not That Into You". Seriously so funny! I love being with him and having our time together. It's been so nice now that we no longer have a baby to take along and we have the best babysitter in the whole world! I feel like we can go out and I never worry about the kids. Happy Valentine's Day, Honey! I LOVE LOVE LOVE YOU!!!!!!!

On Saturday we took the kids to see "Paul Blart, Mall Cop" and then to McDonald's for dinner. I teased him about telling everyone that he took me to McDonald's for dinner on Valentine's until I found out that Kevin & Melanie went through the McDonald's drive thru and Thomas & Aleyce went to Burger King. Really, guys!! At least we had kids with us. Overall, it was a good Valentine's day, but I really look forward to the ones where we can afford to run away for the weekend and have romantic dinners and breakfast in bed *sigh*

Monday=Bad Day

Have you ever had one of those days when you seriously want to strangle everyone around you? If not, you're too perfect and nice for me so you can go read someone else's blog.

So not only do I have to follow up an bad day on Sunday with a Monday, but the kids decided that I needed it to be especially bad. Thanks, guys...
NOT!! I wake up still tired, despite going to bed at 8:30 at night and really just want to stay in bed all day. But, of course, Moms don't get to do that. I wish! I get Spencer and Seth off to school and decide I need to finish Tiara's room and paint her door and the closet doors. Whoops! Dave forgot to take the doors off. Guess I'll do that myself even though they are much bigger than me. Dumb decision. Davis and Tiara want to sit at the bar and color. Great idea, I think! Now I can paint. Dumb decision. Not only do I have a newly decorated room for Tia, I have new custom countertops compliments of Davis. I wasn't really wants orange and blue though. Can I just say dumb decision again?? Oh wait, there is a nice trail of milk all over my hardwood floors. Thanks, McCall! Who ever said sippy cups are spill proof? I'm convinced it was a man that never had a wife to tell him that they spill because he never would have noticed it on his own!!

To bed everyone before I kill you! No lunch. No drinks. I don't care. You should thank me that you don't have any broken bones and that you are still breathing!

Ahhh, quiet for a couple hours. Maybe now I can take a shower and have something to eat. But no! Spencer and Seth come home with news that Spencer has another report due...this Friday! Are you kidding? He had one due last week, the wax museum is tomorrow and he's supposed to do another report in the next 4 days?? Get a grip, Mrs. Smith, these kids are in 3rd grade. We're not in college and they have bedtimes. When, exactly, are they supposed to do this? I can't wait to get out of ALPS!!!

So we finally wrap up most of the homework by the time Dave is getting home. Dinner? Umm...haven't thought about that. You mean I have to clean AND cook? Today? As I try to clean up the kitchen and figure out what to make, I see Tiara and McCall attempting to give me a new custom table with the paint palette I had just finished making for Spencer's wax museum costume. Paint everywhere! AARRRRGGGHHHHH!!!!! I quit! This is not what I signed up for! Maybe I'm not meant for motherhood. Forget everything I said last week because I can't stand my kids right now! They are seriously driving me crazy!

After cleaning up the paint mess and making another paint palette and cleaning up the floors I finally get a self imposed break. Dave can take care of the kids the rest of the night. He can be the mom because this one just resigned!
Good Luck!

The only good part of the day was watching The Bachelor and seeing Stephanie get the boot. She is so wrong for him in every way and I just can't stand how sappy sweet she is for one more minute! Maybe next week he can get rid of Naomi.
